SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah golf team heads to Bremerton, Wash., this weekend for the Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational, Monday and Tuesday. The tournament, hosted by Washington will be played on the par-72, 7127-yard Olympic Course at Gold Mountain Golf Club. This will be the first appearance by the Utes at the tournament.
The 54-hole tournament is slated to begin Monday at 7:30 am with the first and second rounds, while the final round will be played Tuesday.
The Utes will compete against several Pac-12 opponents, including Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, USC, Washington and Washington State, as well as BYU, UC Davis, Gonzaga, Pacific, Pepperdine, St. Mary's, San Diego and San Diego State.
Last Time Out
The Utes teed off their fall season at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo., last weekend. The squad posted a seven-over-par 871 (297-287-287) finishing in the top half of the standings with a seventh-place finish. Senior Daniel Engle finished in the top 10 with a one-under-par total of 215 (71-71-73).
Three Utes finished in the top 25 with three-over-par scores of 219. Junior Jack Maerki posted rounds of of 76-69-74, while sophomores Myles Sullivan and Jonathon Thomas posted 75-72-72 and 76-75-68, respectively. Thomas was the big mover on the day with a final-round 68 that bumped him up 31 places in the standings. Senior Ben Bankhead rounded out the lineup for Utah with a three-day score of 228 (75-76-77).
