Chris Gresh and the Utes look to improve on last year's seventh-place conference finish.

THIS WEEK: MWC CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Utes will head to Tucson, Ariz., to compete in the Mountain West Conference Championships April 26-28. The three-day event, held at Tucson National Resort, will feature all nine MWC schools, including archrival Brigham Young. The conference is extremely competitive this season, with two schools in the top 15, and four schools ranked in the top 50. Utah is paired in Group 1 with UNLV and Brigham Young. Eighteen holes will be played each day of the event.
Last season, the Utes placed seventh overall, after finishing the three-day tournament at 44-over par. Dustin Pimm led the team by finishing tied for sixth at two-over-par. Chris Gresh also played well, finishing tied for 14th at five-over-par.
LAST WEEK: COUGAR CLASSIC
The University of Utah competed in its final regular season tournament at the Cougar Classic in Provo, Utah. The Utes finished tied for sixth place, snapping their string of three-straight top-five finishes. The Utes were led, as they have been nearly all spring, by juniors Dustin Pimm and Steve Broker, who didn't let chilly temperatures or playing on their rivals home course deter them from getting off to a quick start. Pimm finished the first two rounds at Riverside Country Club at seven-under-par and tied for second place. Teammate Broker ended day one tied for eighth place at four-under-par. As a team the Utes finished the first round at one-under-par, but faded in the concluding rounds to finish at four-over-par.
UTAH GOLF NOTES
Utah is currently ranked 93rd by Golfweek, and 86th in the Golfstat men's college golf poll ... The Utes are 86th in the Golfstat men's college golf poll, jumping 11 spots in the standings ... Six Ute golfers are ranked in the top 50 in the Mountain West Conference in stroke average.
