THIS WEEK: COUGAR CLASSIC
The Utes will make the hour-long trip south to compete in the Cougar Classic, hosted by archrival Brigham Young April 20-21. The 54-hole tournament will be held in Provo, Utah, and will feature four other Beehive State schools, including Brigham Young, Utah State, Utah Valley State and Southern Utah. The team will participate in a practice round Thursday, April 19.

Last season, the Utes were led by then-sophomore Dustin Pimm, who finished second at 11-under-par. Chris Gresh finished at two-over-par and Chance Cota closed the tournament at four-over-par. The team finished in 10th place at even par.

LAST WEEK: COWBOY INVITATIONAL
The University of Utah recorded its third straight top-five finish, finishing second at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Scottsdale, Ariz. The Utes, who finished at even par for the tournament, were beaten by UC Davis by one stroke. Utah was led by juniors Dustin Pimm and Chris Gresh, who finished tied for fifth with a score of one-under-par. Nicholas Larson (t-25, three-over-par) and Steven Broker (t-27, four-over-par) also played well for the Utes. The Utes played consistently well in all three 18-hole tournament rounds, ending the first two rounds of competition at two-under-par and occupying third place in the team standings. Utah also finished ahead of Mountain West Conference schools Wyoming and Air Force, and in-state rivals Weber State and Utah Valley State.

UTAH GOLF NOTES
Utah is currently ranked 93rd by Golfweek, improving four spots from last week ... The Utes are 84th in the Golfstat men's college golf poll, jumping 11 spots in the standings ... Utah will compete in its third and final in-state tournament this weekend ... Dustin Pimm is 6th in the Mountain West in stroke average, moving up five spots from last week ... Pimm won the Fox Hollow Open April 15, finishing at 10-under-par ... Utah has finished in the top five in four of its five spring tournaments.
