SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah golf team heads to Fresno, Calif., to compete in the 50th annual Lexus Classic, March 4-5. The tournament will be played at the par-72, 6,570-yard Belmont Country Club.
The first 36 holes will begin with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. PST on Monday. The final 18 holes will be completed on Tuesday, with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. PST.
The Lexus Classic will feature a slightly larger field as six golfers from each school will compete with the top five individual scores from each round comprising the team score, rather than the standard five golfers per team with four scores being counted.
The Utes will take to the greens with 16 other teams including last year's winner, Oregon State. The Beavers won the title with a team score of 1087 (355-352-380). Utah will also face California, the nation's top-ranked team, along with fellow Pac-12 competitors Oregon and Arizona, and historic rival, BYU.
Last Time at the Lexus Classic
Utah golf makes its first appearance at the Lexus Classic since 2003, when senior Garrett Clegg posted a two-under 214 (75-70-69) for a top-25 finish.
