Jonathon Thomas had a team-best five birdies through two rounds today

ERIE, Colo. - Utah golf sits in the top half of the leaderboard after play concluded this evening on the first day of the Mark Simpson Colorado Invite from Erie, Colorado.
All five Utes were still on the course when second-round play was halted due to darkness with Daniel Engle leading the team at 7-over, tied for 22nd overall. The senior notched three birdies for the day on holes 8, 11, and 16.
Myles Sullivan made the biggest improvement from the first round by carding a 1-under through 11 holes. The sophomore eagled No. 12 and birded on No. 1 while recording only two bogeys.
Jonathon Thomas is tied with Sullivan at 8-over for the tournament. The sophomore led the way with five birdies for the Utes through two rounds.
Preston Stanley of Houston Baptist leads the tournament by three shots and is the only player to shoot in the red through two rounds. Host Colorado has a six-shot lead on Oregon State with both teams having all their players in the clubhouse when play was called.
34 of the 84 players were still in action when play was suspended. Players will finish the second round at 8 a.m. tomorrow and the third round will move to a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m.
