Three Utah golfers tie for seventh to lead Utes through Day One

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Chance Cota, Chris Gresh and Nic Larson hung together during the first round at the Mountain West Conference Championships. The Utah trio all fired 71s to give the team three golfers in the top 10 heading into Friday's second round.
"We played okay today," said head golf coach Randall McCracken. "The course is playing a little longer than it has in the past, but we're still in the thick of things."
Nick Carter and Steve Broker also recorded identical scores, posting 75s to finish tied for 37th.
San Diego State's Aaron Goldberg leads the tournament at four-under-par.
The team is tied with Colorado State at four-over-par. Utah sits seven strokes behind UNLV, which leads the team standings at three-under-par.
