The Utah men's golf team finished tied for second place at the Grand Canyon/Thunderbird Invitational in Phoenix, Ariz. The Utes shot a three round total of 888 just three shots off the lead.
Jon Morgan, who won the 1996 Grand Canyon Invite, finished just one shot off the lead at one under par to capture second place. John Owen, who won the tournament last year, and Shawn Edwards finished tied for 17th at eight over par for the Utes. Gregg Oliphant was just one shot behind Owen and Edwards at nine over par. Clint Christiansen finished 79th.
