Utah Golf Finishes 10th at Barona Cup

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of Utah golf team completed its third round of the 2009 Barona Cup with a final score of 1,162 (390, 379, 393). The Utes finished the tournament in 10th place at 82-over-par.

Kaleb Mahanes continued to lead the Utes through the third round with a final score of 229 (73, 77, 79) at 13-over-par. Mahanes' effort tied for 50th place.

Senior Chance Cota shot a final round of 81 for a total of 232 at 16-over-par that tied for 54th place in the field.

Tying for 56th place, Jeff Kitches shot a combined score of 158 (81, 77, 75) at 17-over-par. Derek Adams shot an 84 in the third round to finish the tournament with a score of 237, good for 60th place.

Freshman Joe Webber completed the final day with a score of 238 (78, 81, 79) for 61st place at 22-over-par. Rounding out the Utah lineup was Mike Branca in 62nd place with a combined score of 242 (84, 79, 79).

Colorado State placed first in the team standings after shooting 340 in the third round for a total score of 1,051 at 29-under-par. Dustin Morris of Colorado State finished first in the individual standings at 13-under-par and a final score of 203.

Up next, Utah will travel to Eugene, Ore. for the University of Oregon Duck Invitational March 23-24.
