HONOLULU, Hawaii - Sophomore Chris Gresh posted another one-under 71 in the final round of competition to finish with a three-round score of 211 (-5). This marks the second tournament Gresh has paced the Utes this year; the first was at the Herb Wimberley Intercollegiate Oct. 31-Nov. 1. Gresh finished tied for 31st overall.
As a team, Utah finished tied for 18th with UC Santa Barbara after shooting a 296 (+8) in the final round. The Utes posted a three-round score of 875 (+11). SMU edged out BYU for the team title after finishing with a 41-under 823 to BYU's 40-under 824.
Dustin Pimm struggled in the third round, posting a four-over 76 on the day and a three-round score of 221 (+5). Pimm finished tied for 84th overall. Sophomore Nick Carter carded his best round of the tournament with an even-par 72. Carter finished with a seven-over 223 to tie for 89th.
Freshmen Mike Branca and Chance Cota both shot a five-over 77 in the final round for the Utes. Branca finished with a three-round score of 225 (+9), while Cota scored a 12-over 228. Branca tied for 84th and Cota placed 100th overall.
The Utes are back in action March 6-7 at the Braveheart Classic which will be held at the Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont, Calif.
