HONOLULU, Hawaii - The University of Utah men's golf team opened up the spring season on Wednesday at the John Burns Intercollegiate. Utah as a team is in second after one round of competition. The Utes shot a team score of 278 and sit two-strokes back of New Mexico for the lead.
Casey Fowles leads Utah with a first round 68, placing him sixth, only one-stroke off the leaders. Luke Swilor and Carl Jensen each shot a 69, tying them for 13th, while Garrett Clegg added a 72 and Steve Newren shot a 75.
The second round of competition will tee-off on Thursday, Feb. 19, at the Leilehua Golf Course.
