Morgan Scalley is a Bronko Nagurski Watch List selection.
July 12, 2004
The Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) has named Utah senior defensive back Morgan Scalley to its 2004 Bronko Nagurski Watch List, which is a compilation of the best defensive players in college football regardless of position. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy is presented annually to the nation's outstanding defensive player by the FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club.
Scalley becomes the second Ute named to a FWAA Watch List this summer. Chris Kemoeatu, a senior offensive guard on the University of Utah football team, was named to the 2004 Outland Trophy Watch List.
It is the third major citation for Scalley in recent months. A second-team all-Mountain West Conference defensive back as a junior in 2003, Scalley was selected as the 2004 Anson Mount Scholar-Athlete and was also named a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-American. He is a three-time all-Mountain West Conference academic selection.
Scalley started all 12 games last fall and was Utah's third-leading tackler with 73 total tackles.
