Morgan Scalley continues to rake in awards. |

SALT LAKE CITY -
Utah free safety Morgan Scalley has been selected as the 2004 Anson Mount Scholar-Athlete, the award's sponsor, Playboy, has announced. It is the second major national academic award for Scalley, who was previously named a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-American. He is also a three-time all-Mountain West Conference academic selection.
Scalley, a second-team all-conference defensive back in 2003, becomes the first Ute ever to receive the Anson Mount Scholar Athlete award. He will be honored along with the 2004 Playboy All-America team in Phoenix, Ariz., May 7-9. Playboy will donate $5,000 to the University of Utah's general scholarship fund in Scalley's name.
Nominees for the annual Anson Mount award must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA, have contributed to the community and be a projected starter for the coming season. Scalley carries a 3.953 GPA in mass communication and earned a perfect 4.0 fall semester. He has participated in numerous community service projects, including Habitat for Humanity, a visit to Shriners Hospital and speaking appearances at various elementary school and Scout functions. A 2004 All-America candidate on the field, Scalley started all 12 games last fall and was Utah's third leading tackler with 73 total tackles.
