Utah held CSU to 30 yards passing and minus six yards rushing in the first quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Utes held the Rams to seven yards rushing and 36 yards passing.
Terrance Cain had a career-high 24 completions. He was 24-for-32 for the game (one interception). Cain also threw for over 200 yards for the fourth time this year (248 yards). He had two passing touchdowns (long touchdown of 47 yards to David Reed) and has eight for the year.
Terrance Cain rushed 15 times for a career-high 71 yards.
Shaky Smithson served in three roles - kick return, receiver and running back. He had one kick return for 28 yards and four carries for 24 yards (including one direct snap play). He did not make a catch, but lined up at receiver. Smithson left the game in the first half with an ankle injury.
Joe Phillips made his only field goal try of the game, a 41-yard kick. Phillips is 6-for-6 in field goals this season. He was 3-for-3 in PAT tries.
Eddie Wide caught six passes for 25 yards (long of eight) for the first receptions of his career. He also scored his first career receiving touchdown on an eight-yard reception in the fourth quarter.
Eddie Wide scored his second rushing touchdown of the season on a one-yard run in the fourth quarter. He had 102 yards on 17 carries for his second consecutive 100-plus rushing game.
Brad Clifford had his first career kick return on a short kick in the second quarter. The return went for 11 yards.
Robert Johnson made a career-high three interceptions in the game. All three picks came on consecutive drives, the first at the end of the third quarter and the final two during the fourth quarter. It is the first time that one Ute has made three interceptions in a game since Eric Weddle had three picks against San Diego State in 2006. Johnson has four interceptions this season and has 11 career picks.
