SALT LAKE CITY - Utah men's basketball opens its 2003-04 season against Georgia State in the first round of the Preseason NIT on Monday, Nov. 17 at 7:00 p.m. (MST) in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. John J. Powers, executive director of the NIT, announced the sites and pairings for the 2003 Preseason NIT this week.

Utah returns three starters and six lettermen from last year's team that went 25-8, claimed a share of the Mountain West Conference title and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Utes will be led by seniors Nick Jacobson and Tim Frost, both all-conference honorees last season.

Georgia State returns six lettermen from last year's team that went 14-15. Should Utah win its first round game, it would face Minnesota or Missouri-Kansas City on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 8:30 p.m. (MST) on ESPN2 at a site to be determined after the first round. The top four teams in the 16-team field advance to the NIT semifinals and championship round Nov. 26 and 28 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
