Utah to take part in inaugural tournament

SALT LAKE CITY -- The University of Utah men's basketball team will go on the road for the first round of the inaugrual College Basketball Invitational (CBI). The Runnin' Utes will play at the University of Texas-El Paso Wednesday.
Utah enters the game with a 17-14 overall record after advancing to the semifinals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament this past weekend. Meanwhile, UTEP will come into the CBI with a 19-13 mark. The Miners dropped a 64-62 overtime decision to Tulsa in the semifinals of the Conference-USA Tournament.
Utah and UTEP have a fairly lengthy history in men's basketball. Wednesday's game will be the 66th matchup between the two former members of the Western Athletic Conference.
Game time for Wednesday's Runnin' Ute-Miner matchup has been set for 7:05 p.m. MDT. The Utah-UTEP winner will meet the winner of a Tulsa-Miami (Ohio) contest in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
