PORTLAND, Ore - Michael Doleac scored 21 points and Andre Miller added 18 and 11 rebounds as sixth-ranked Utah overcame an early deficit and remained unbeaten with a narrow 69-61 victory over Oregon State at Portland.
Alex Jensen chipped in 11 points for Utah (10-0), which failed to win by double digits for just the third time this season. The Utes play one more non-conference game against Wisconsin-Milwaukee on December 27th before opening their Western Athletic Conference season on January 3rd against Rice.
Corey Benjamin scored 24 points for the Beavers (6-2), who had their three-game winning streak snapped and lost for the third straight time on a neutral site. Oregon State plays Hawaii-Hilo on December 28th in the first round of the Hilo Holiday Shootout.
Oregon State jumped out to a 18-4 lead midway throught the first half, keyed by Benjamin, who had 12 points in the first 20 minutes. But the Utes responded with a 23-8 spurt to take a 27-26 lead at the break.
