Utah's first 18 points came from six 3-pointers. Stephen Weigh stopped that streak with a pair of free throws at the 9:26 mark. The Utes' first 2-point field goal came from Luke Nevill at the 5:59 mark.
Utah started 6-of-7 from 3-point range. The Utes then missed their next 12 attempts from beyond the arc. Things swung back the other way a bit midway through the second half, as Utah hit three of its next four.
Weigh scored for the first time since suffering a rib injury against Santa Clara on Nov. 19. He hadn't scored in three games that he saw action in after recovering from the injury. He finished with three points on 3-of-4 shooting from the free-throw line.
Utah now leads the series with Idaho State by a 21-3 count. The Bengals have never defeated Utah in Salt Lake City (13-0).
The Utes are now 123-49 all-time against current members of the Big Sky Conference.
Johnnie Bryant reached double figures for the seventh time this season and the 51st time in his career.
