ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Marc Jackson scored 18 points as Utah beat High Point 78-69 in the second round of the Great Alaska Shootout on Friday.
The Panthers (1-2) kept the game close through much of the second half, coming within three points, 52-49, after an 11-2 run capped by Akeem Scott's two free throws with 12:12 to play.
But Utah was able to hold onto its lead down the stretch on the shooting of Hawkins and two key 3-point plays by Bogut.
High Point was 23-for-55 from the floor, including shooting 9-for-23 from behind the 3-point line.
Utah outrebounded the Panthers 35-26, with Bogut pulling in 11.
The Utes were 7-for-12 from behind the 3-point line and made 21 of 27 of their free throws.
The Panthers were led by Akeem's 20 points. Danny Gathings and Jerry Echenique added 16 points apiece.
Utah jumped out to a 17-7 lead on an 11-0 run and led 39-32 at the half.
