Scott Garson is in his fifth season with the Utah basketball program and his second as the video coordinator. Garson's duties include breaking down game video, assisting in underclassmen recruiting, opponent scouting, film exchanges and overseeing the managers. Garson spent this past summer on the road assisting in the Utes' recruiting efforts.
Before taking over as video coordinator in 2002-03, Garson served as an administrative assistant, assistant video coordinator and head manager with the Utes for three years. Garson has also directed the Rick Majerus Basketball Camps the last three years.
Garson came to Utah from Pepperdine University, where he was the administrative assistant and video coordinator for the Waves during the 1998-99 season. He also served as the director of the Junior Waves Basketball Camp. While still in college at UC Santa Barbara, Garson was the varsity assistant coach and junior varsity head coach at Santa Barbara High School from 1996-98. He has worked as an instructor at basketball camps at Utah, Stanford and Georgetown, to name a few.
Outside of the athletics arena, Garson worked for the U.S. Department of Justice in the Office of Public Affairs in the summer of 1997. He was also a production assistant for "The Jim Rome Show" in the summer of 1996.
Garson graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a B.A. degree in law and society in 1999. He was a walk-on pitcher with the Gauchos baseball team as a sophomore. He spent his freshman year at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., where he played basketball and baseball. Garson was an all-CIF Southern Section and all-conference basketball and baseball player at Harvard-Westlake High School in North Hollywood, Calif.
The Calabasas, Calif., native was born on April 24, 1976. He received his master's degree in sport psychology from the University of Utah. Garson's younger brother, Chad, is a senior at the University of Michigan.
