SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah baseball team plays the first of two series it has scheduled for Lindquist Field in Ogden, Utah, this weekend against New Mexico. The first game is scheduled for Thursday, April 9, at 6:00 p.m.

Both teams are looking to break losing streaks. Utah (13-15) dropped the final two of three to UNLV and also lost on Tuesday against Utah Valley. New Mexico (25-8) is coming off a three-game sweep by TCU.

"We haven't played to our standard the past three games," head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "We need a better effort and a better performance."

The Lobos have spent time in the rankings, ranked as high as No. 18 in the March 30 Baseball America poll. The team is ranked No. 1 in the nation in several categories: batting average (.393), hits (489), triples (36) and triples per game (1.09).

"We are going to have to do a good job minimizing their hitting and we're going to have to score some runs," Kinneberg said. "When you play against a good hitting club they are going to score runs and we will have to be prepared to have an offensive answer to that."
