Utah Travels to New Mexico State This Weekend
The University of Utah baseball team continues its season-opening, 16-game road trip this weekend. This week, the Utes head for Las Cruces, N.M. and a three-game set with the New Mexico State Aggies.

Utah enters the series with an 0-3 record. The Utes lost their season-opener 8-0 at Santa Clara Friday, before playing the Broncos to a pair of one-run losses on the weekend.

New Mexico State comes into the series against Utah with a 1-2 mark. The Aggies opened last week with a three-game set against Northern Colorado.

New Mexico State was 19-36 last season. The Aggies have 20 newcomers on their roster. Utah split four games with New Mexico State last season.

• Utah was 2-8 in games decided by one run last season. The Utes are already 0-2 in that category in 2007.
• Four Utah pitchers worked at least one inning without giving up a run last week at Santa Clara.
• Of 10 Utah pitchers used last week, six have an ERA 2.25 or lower.
• Utah ranked 25th in the nation in batting average (.316) and 23rd in home runs (1.11 per game) last season.
• The Utes were the best fielding team in the Mountain West Conference last season, with a .970 mark.
