With baseball season right around the corner, UtahUtes.com will introduce you to the new players on the team in 'Getting to Know.' Today's spotlight is freshman Eric Moersen.
What is your favorite baseball memory?
My first start of my senior season a one-hit complete game. And our semifinal CIF championship game.
What is your favorite sport besides baseball?
I played football all throughout high school.
What do you like to do when you are not playing baseball?
I like to hang out with my friends, my teammates and doing anything outdoors.
Do you have a nickname? How did you get your nickname?
E or Merse. People have just said that, usually on the baseball field.
Why did you choose Utah? What is the best thing about Utah?
I chose Utah because of the coaching staff right when I met them and the tour of the campus. I loved it.
Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
My parents have been most influential to me because they have always supported me 100%.
My favorite thing about Salt Lake City is:
The outdoors, the weather, and how pretty the city is.
The teammate I most admire is who, and why?
Tyler Wagner, he works really hard and at the same time has fun and is a great supporter and teammate.
What do you like best about Coach Kinneberg?
That he wants us to practice very hard but still enjoy it, compete, and have fun.
What are your goals for this year?
To be the best pitcher I can be to help my team out, and gain velocity.
What are your pregame superstitions?
Just to concentrate.
What is your major and what do you want to do after you graduate?
Economics and I am not sure what I want to do.
