University of Utah cross country junior Amanda Mergaert has been named to the All-Pac-12 Conference Second Team, the league office announced on Wednesday. With the announcement, Mergaert becomes the first Utah cross country athlete to earn Pac-12 Conference honors.

Seven student-athletes from the University of Utah women's cross country team earned All-Academic Team accolade from the Pac-12 Conference on Wednesday. Seniors Alyssa Abbott and Alexis Davis were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team.

In her second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, Utah junior Amanda Mergaert marked the end of the 2011 season with an 84th-place finish. Mergaert is the first Utah cross country athlete to compete at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in back-to-back seasons in over 15 years.
