SALT LAKE CITY- Following a 10th-place performance at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships, Utah cross country junior Rebekah Winterton will travel to Terre Haute, Ind., for the NCAA Championships on Saturday.
The six-kilometer race will be held at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center beginning at 1:15 p.m. ET.
“Rebekah has done a great job all year,” head coach Kyle Kepler said. “She gave a great effort last week in order to qualify. Rebekah has worked so hard for this, overcoming an injury last year, and we are very happy for her.”
“We competed at this course earlier in the year at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in order to give our team experience on the course,” Kepler continued. “Rebekah also will have the help of our assistant coach Amanda Mergaert, who has competed at this meet and will be able to share her knowledge.”
A Salt Lake City native, Winterton enters the week coming off an all-region 10th-place performance at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships on Nov. 15. Winterton also earned Pac-12 All-Conference honors for her 12th-place finish at the Pac-12 Championships.
In five races this season, Winterton has finished in the top-12 four times.
