SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's cross country team will send four runners to Orem, Utah this Friday for an evening 5K race hosted by Utah Valley University. The race is set to start at 5:45 p.m. MST. Sydney Osmun and Zoe Roy will be running as representatives of Utah, while Lucy Yates and Brooke Casagranda will be running unattached.

Osmun, a junior and native of Elko, Nev., sat out last week's 6K race at Stanford, but will return this week with hopes of a top finish. The last 5K Osmun ran was at the Colorado State Invitational where she finished 35th overall and clocked in at 21:15.0.

Roy, a sophomore and also a member of the Utah Nordic Ski Team, signed onto the cross country team this week. Roy was a strong runner in high school and will run her first collegiate race on Friday.

Yates and Casagranda will both be running their first collegiate races this week, but will be unattached to the U.

"We will not be getting a team score for this meet, but it is a good opportunity for our new and younger runners to get some additional experience," said head coach Kyle Kepler.
