SALT LAKE CITY- Coming off a strong start to the season last weekend, the University of Utah women's cross country team hits the road to compete at the Nevada Twilight on Saturday. The Utes are slated to compete at Shadow Mountain Park in Sparks, Nev., at 8:30 p.m. (PT).
"This week we want to continue to learn how to run together and improve our time gaps where we can," Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said. "Last week, our top three runners were less than 30 seconds apart, but our next two athletes were almost a minute behind our number one. We hope to close that gap, develop our depth, and get some improvement from the rest of our runners."
Freshmen Susannah Hurst, Nicole Rietz, Macee Nielson, and Lauren Mills will make their second collegiate appearances as they look to build on solid performances in their season debuts at the Utah State Open.
Last year at Nevada, the Utes finished first overall in the team standings and earned five of the top-10 individual spots. The Utes were led by Amanda Mergaert's first-place finish and Winterton's third-place finish.
