This Week: Utah's cross-country team heads to Logan, Utah, for its first race of the season, the America West Heritage Center Open on Sept. 3, 2005. The meet will start at 9:00 a.m.
Meet Preview: Teams joining Utah at this scored open event are to be announced.

About Head Coach Kyle Kepler: Kyle Kepler enters his first season as the cross country head coach at Utah. Kepler comes to Utah from the University of Northern Iowa, where he served as head men's and women's cross country coach and as an assistant track and field coach for the past two years. He was on staff with UNI for seven years, serving as an assistant cross country coach for five years prior to being named head coach in 2003.
2005 Outlook: The young Ute squad has just a few weeks of practice under new head coach Kyle Kepler. The roster includes nine athletes that are either sophomore or freshman. Leading the way are three seniors. The Utes show promising leadership from seniors Ashlee Warnick and Nicki Hugie, and will begin a "New Era" where the Utes set out to vie for the Mountain West Conference Championship.
Ute Notes: The lead runners for the Utes at this open will be Nicki Hugie and Ashlee Warnick. Hugie and Warnick return with the most experience on the team. They return after finishing in the top seven for Utah in the MWC Championship's 6k race last year. Hugie finished 39th with a time of 25:08, and Warnick 40th at 25:12. Utah took fourth place overall.
