Nov. 15, 2003
OGDEN, Utah-The 2003 campaigns for the Utah cross country teams concluded today at the Mountain Region Championships held at Weber State. The women's team finished 15th overall in arguably the best region in the country. The women ran a 6K, while the men raced a 10K. On the men's side, Jeff Davidson was the lone runner for the Utes.
Nellie Hammons was the first Utah finisher on the women's side with a 54th-place finish overall (23:01.2). Jennifer Brusch placed 73rd (23:20.2), Jennie Haertel was 76th (23:33.0), Elise Greenwood finished 92nd (23:57.8) and Jenny Gustavson was 93rd (24:06.5) to round out Utah's top five. Greenwood, Utah's most consistent runner this season, has been sick the past week and was not nearly 100 percent for the race.
Head Coach Brian Appell elected to run only senior Jeff Davidson on the men's side. Davidson began the race keeping up with the lead pack, but tripped not to far into the 10K. He finished 60th overall in 33:07.9.
