SALT LAKE CITY--University of Utah runner Jeff Davidson has been named Mountain West Conference Athlete of the Week. Davidson, a junior, set a new personal record last week at the Baldy Castillo Invitational in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. The Idaho native's time of 9:13.42 also ranks seventh on the Utah all-time list.
"Jeff is developing well in the steeplechase," says Head Distance Coach Brian Appell. "He came from 60 meters behind to finish second at the Baldy Castillo Invitational. His last two laps were very fast. He was sprinting, which is what we were looking for. Now we're hoping he can set another pr at the Stanford Invitational this weekend."
