ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.--Utah heptathlete Kristy Slade sits in fifth place after the first day of competition at the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships. The senior recorded 3,021 points through the first four events. The heptathlon concludes Thursday, May 15, with the long jump, javelin throw and 800-meter run. San Diego State's Leslie Miller leads the event with 3,268 points.
