Utes Take Gold In Six Events at Weber State Twilight Invitational

OGDEN, Utah - The University of Utah outdoor track and field squad finished competition for the Weber State Twilight on Wednesday, May 04. Hosted by the Wildcats at Stewart Stadium, the meet featured athletes from Utah, BYU, Utah State and Utah Valley State College. The Utes had a strong meet, taking gold in six events.

Leading the women's team were Amanda Feigt, Vanessa Mortensen and Candice Workman-Ekberg who all earned victories in their events. Feigt won the long jump with a distance of 19' 2.50". She also finished third in the 400m-hurdles (1:01.90), 14th in the javelin (93' 8.00"), and 19th in the high jump (4' 9.75"). Mortensen took gold in the hammer, throwing 191' 6.00", while Workman-Ekberg won the shot put with 46' 7.00".

AJ Roby, Elise Greenwood-Bahr, Celsea DiGrazia and Jennifer Cutrer also had impressive performances in Ogden. Roby finished second in the discus with 152' 5.25", but was the top collegiate finisher. She also finished third in the shot put with 41' 3.00". Greenwood-Bahr finished second in the 2,000m-steeplechase with 7:25.37. DiGrazia took second in the 800m with 2:23.70, while Cutrer finished second in the 100m-hurdles with 14.41.

Switching to the men's side, Nephi Tyler, Vance Twitchell, Delfino Arevalo notched victories in their events. Tyler won the 1,500m (3:51.14) and finished fourth in the 800m (1:53.13). Twitchell took gold in the 3,000m-steeplechase with 9:30.69, while Arevalo won the 5,000m with 14:48.67.
