PROVO, Utah - The University of Utah track and field team finished the first day of competition for the Brigham Young University Invitational on Saturday, May 3. Hosted by Brigham Young University, the meet featured athletes from Utah, Utah State and Utah Valley State College. After the final day of competition, the women's team moved up to second place with a total of 139 points.
Leading the way for Utah were Katie Decker, Alexandria Nash and Jen Jackman. Decker finished second in the high jump with a height of 1.70 meters. Nash placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 11.46 meters. Jackman finished second in the 400 meters with a time of 57.13 and also placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.89.
Next up for the Utes is the 2003 Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. Competition will kick off Wednesday, May 14, and last through Saturday, May 17.
