POCATELLO, Idaho - The University of Utah outdoor track and field squad finished competition for the ISU Springfest on Saturday, April 29. Hosted by Idaho State Bengals, the meet featured athletes from Utah, Weber State and Utah State.
Leading the Utes were Amanda Feigt and Romney Stevens who both earned victories in their events. Feigt won the 400m-hurldes with an impressive 1:03.45 finish. Stevens continues to improve in the 5,000m. This weekend, he notched a first-place finish (15:14.62). The Utes ended up taking the top-four spots in the men's 5,000m.
Jennie Haertel, Elise Greenwood-Bahr and Jennifer Cutrer were strong in the track events. Haertel took second in the 1,500m, posting a 4:40.05 finish. Greenwood-Bahr finished third in the 5,000m with 18:23.82 and Cutrer finished third in the 100m-hurdles with 14.70.
In the field events, Mandie Rowell, Amber DeVries, Katy Barton and Nicole Farnsworth led the Utes. Rowell finished second in the triple jump with 11.41m. DeVries led the Utes in the hammer with a second place finish (47.75m). She also finished fourth in the shot put (11.69m) and fifth in the javelin (39.00m).
Barton nabbed a third place finish in the long jump with 5.58m, while Farnsworth led the Utes in the shot put and javelin where she finished third (12.54m) and fourth (39.53m) respectively.
Switching to the men's side, Vance Twitchell, Seth Wold and Matt Hansen had strong performances in the 5,000m. Following fellow Ute Stevens, the group grabbed the next three spot. Twitchell finished second (15:18.13), Wold took third (15:37.76) and Hansen grabbed fourth (16:03.18).
