PROVO, Utah - The University of Utah outdoor track and field throwing squad finished competition for the BYU Invitational on Friday, April 29. Hosted by Brigham Young, the meet featured athletes from Utah, BYU and Northern Colorado.
Leading the Utes were junior AJ Roby and senior Candice Workman-Ekberg who both earned victories in their events. Roby won the discus with an impressive 47.34m throw, another NCAA regional qualifying mark. She also finished sixth in the shot put with 11.60m.
Workman-Ekberg took gold in the shot put with 13.81. She was also Utah's top finisher in the hammer and second in the discus. She finished third in the hammer (48.24m) and the discus (44.84m).
Freshman Nicole Farnsworth and senior Amber DeVries also had strong meets for the Utes. Farnsworth finished third in the shot put (12.27m), fifth in the discus (41.08m) and hammer (45.68m). DeVries finished fourth in the discus with 41.12m.
