LONG BEACH, Calif. – Following a good showing at the Mt. Sac Relays, the University of Utah women’s track and field team wrapped up the weekend with a solid performance at the Beach Invitational on Saturday.
“This was overall a good weekend,” Utah head coach Kyle Kepler said. “Our hurdlers did good today and everybody ran solid races. I am glad that we came here this weekend and had the opportunity to refine everything and continue to get better. Our team is still making progress and we are ready to get back to work at practice on Monday.”
Getting the Beach Invitational underway in the 100m hurdles was junior Angela Kaplar’s 14th-place performance. Kaplar clocked a time of 14.15 seconds earning fourth in her heat
Freshman Ali Eisenbeiss led the team in the 400m dash. Eisenbeiss posted a time of 56.49 seconds earning third in her heat and 19th overall. Junior Lauryn McKay finished just on the heels of Eisenbeiss, clocking a time of 56.71 seconds for 24th place.
The shot put featured Candus Aiello heading the charge for the Utes. On her fourth attempt, Aiello set a personal-best mark of 46-7.50 feet. Her performance earned second in the heat and 10th overall.
The Utes will compete again on April 25 at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
