Senior Kristy Slade led the way in the pentathlon at the MWC championships

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Utah indoor track and field team finished the first day of competition for the Mountain West Conference championships on Thursday, Feb. 27. Held at the Air Force Academy's Cadet Field House, the meet features athletes from athletes from all MWC schools. Utah kicked off day one with the women's pentathlon.

Competing in the pentathlon were senior Kristy Slade, junior Aubry Startin and sophomore Jennifer Berry. Slade finished second in the shot put and the long jump with distances of 12.33 meters and 5.60 meters respectively. Startin finished first in the high jump with a height of 1.71 meters and Berry finished sixth in the shot put with a distance of 11.23 meters.

The meet continues on Friday with the women's weight throw beginning at 1 p.m. (MST).
