Logan, Utah- Freshman Whitney Wellington broke the University of Utah school record in the 60 meter dash today. She nabbed the event title with a time of 7.80 seconds. Other finishers in the 60 meter dash were Jazmin Dickey (fourth, 7.96), Haley McAllister (fifth, 8.01), and Jennifer Cutrer (sixth, 8.12)

The distance events went well for the Utes with two top three runners in the 1 mile run, Chelsea DiGrazia placed second with a time of 5:23.04 and Lauren Endersen placed third, (5:26.23). Freshman Alyssa Abbott won the 3000 meter run with a finishing time of 10:50.76.

Senior Amanda Feigt ran the second fastest time in school history and a second place finish in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.91 seconds. Along with the second place finish in the hurdles Feigt also placed first in the long jump with a distance of 18.79 ft. The Utes swept the long jump event with Feigt taking first, Haley McAllister (second, 17.81 ft.), Jazmin Dickey (third, 15.64 ft.), and Kelsi Maires (fourth, 14.53 ft.).

In the women's shot put freshman Sarah Cardinal took first place with a throw of 41.66 ft. while sophomore Chasity Toilolo took second with a distance of 39.66 ft.

 

 

"The team competed very well in every area and the athletes showed they could hold there own and pulled together," Assist. coach Burke Bockman said. "The team showed strength in every aspect of the meet."

At the National Pole Vault Summit Susan Atwater shattered her personal best in the pole vault with a jump of 13ft., she broke her previous record by 10 inches and placed first in her heat. Laryssa Simpson placed 12th of 17 in her heat with a jump of 10 ft and Mandie Rowell was four inches off of her personal best with a jump of 11.8 ft.

"I am very impressed with how well we jumped and we how continue to progress and challenge ourselves," head coach Kyle Kepler says. "It was a great weekend for the Ute track team; we got off to a great start and need to continue on this path."
