COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference announced its Swimming and Diving All-Conference team recently. Included on the team were two swimmers from the Utah men's team and seven from the women's team. Four women's relay teams and one men's relay team were also honored. Those named to the all-conference team finished in the top six for men and top eight for women at the MWC Championships. Relay teams had to have one of the top three finishes.
"We're excited to have people make the team," said Utah head coach Greg Winslow. "It's definitely a big honor."
Freshman Whitney Lopus (Scottsdale, Ariz.), who was the MWC champion in the 100 and 200 fly, was named to both the 100 and 200 fly team for the Utes. Joining her in both events was teammate and fellow freshman Hanna Caron (Raleigh, N.C.). Caron was also named to the 200 IM all-conference team. Jennifer Fredsall (Kearns, Utah) was named to the 100 fly all-conference team for the fourth year in a row.
Shannon McQueen (Ottawa, Ontario) was honored twice for her performance in the 500 free and the 100 back. This was the fourth year that McQueen was honored in the 100 back event.
Natalie Edge (South Jordan, Utah)was recognized for her performances in the 50, 100 and 200 free. This is the second season that Edge was named to the All-Conference team in those individual events.
Anna Braszkiewicz (Warsaw, Poland) was named for her performance in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Annie VanLeeuwen (West Valley City, Utah) and Kwan Ling Yu (Yuen Long, Hong Kong) were also honored. VanLeeuwen received individual honors for her performance in the 100 breast and Yu was honored for her first-place finish in the platform dive.

A pair of Utah freshmen was also selected for all-conference honors. Eric Murray (Woodstock, Ga.) was named to the team for his second-place finish in the 400 IM and Major Robinson (Missoula, Mont.) was honored for his third-place finish in the 200 back.
"When we recruited [Lopus, Caron, Robinson and Murray] we expected them to be some of the best in the conference," said Winslow. "We're glad they lived up to our expectations."
The Utah 800 free relay team of Marco Ferraro (Freberdorf, Switzerland), Simon Oberholzer (Schaffhousen, Switzerland), Murray and Adam Oliver (Colorado Springs, Colo.) also earned all-conference team recognition.
Of Utah's nine individual student-athletes honored, six are returning for next season as well as the entire women's 400, 800, and 200 free relay teams.
Braszkiewicz and Yu will continue their season at the NCAA Zone Diving Championships, March 12-14 in Austin, Texas.
