Utah set eight school records and one conference record at the MWC Championships.
The University of Utah swimming and diving team completed its most successful season in recent history as the women finished fourth and the men fifth at the Mountain West Conference Championships. "This is by far the most successful conference championships we've had since I've been here," comments Head Coach Michael Litzinger. "We had 100% of our swimmers get their best times. It was a great tribute to all of their hard work."

Utah broke eight school and one conference record at the championships. Evan Castro broke Kelvin Mortimer's record in the 100 breast (55.83), which was set in 1993. Castro finished in 55.12. Kristen Kaiser broke three school records and one conference record. Kaiser set new marks in the 500 free (4:54.57) and the 200 fly (2:05.11). She also broke a school and conference record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:21.22. The 800 free-relay team of Neringa Statkeviciute, Kristen Kaiser, Loren Sweny and Marta Stepanczuk set a new conference record with a time of 7:23.03. Loren Sweny set a new school record in the 200 back (2:03.03), and Tessa Greegor broke the school mark in the 100 breast (1:02.88). The 200 free-relay team of Neringa Statkeviciute, Amy Barefield, Amber Walker and Loren Sweny set a school record with a time of 1:34.75. Ariane Kich also broke the school record in the 200 breast with a time of 2:18.75.

Along with the new records, Utah added several NCAA provisional qualifiers.

The Utes will host the Utah Invitational on Feb. 28-Mar. 1, the preliminaries will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the finals will be held at 6:00 p.m. on both dates. The invitational will be held at the Ute Natatorium. The Women's NCAA Championships will be held on Mar. 20-22 at Auburn University. The Men's NCAA Championships will be on Mar. 27-29 at the University of Texas.
