Freshman Jonathan Larsen and junior Kristen Kaiser were named Mountain West Conference men's and women's swimmer of the week respectively for their performances against Wyoming and Air Force.
Larsen, a Stockton, Calif., native swam to two individual victories and was part of the winning 400-yard medley relay team, as the Utes lost a dual meet to Wyoming (125-106) on Jan. 24. He started the meet winning the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events in 21.05 and 46:08, respectively. Larsen completed the meet by anchoring Utah's 400 medley relay team to victory, posting a time of 3:23.72. Following his performance against Wyoming, Larsen swam to individual victories in the 50 (20.94) and 100-yard (45.56) freestyle events and anchored the winning 200-yard medley relay team (1:32.88) as Utah lost to Air Force in a dual meet (141-100) on Jan. 25. This is the third time this season he has won the award.
Kaiser, a St. Louis, Mo., native, set a new school record in the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.88) and won the 1000-yard freestyle (10:37.39) as the Utes bested Wyoming in a dual meet (133.5-103.5) on Jan. 24. She followed up her Friday performance by winning the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:31.75 as Utah defeated Air Force in a dual meet (130-106) on Jan. 25. This is the third time this season Kaiser was awarded swimmer of the week.
