Ken Tiltges assists in 200 medley relay

Los Angeles, Calif. - The Men's Pac-12 Championships commenced at 6 p.m. PT this evening at the East Los Angeles College Swim Center. The Ute men proved Utah women's swimming wouldn't be the only Utes breaking records at the Championships.
Two records were set in the 800 free relay as Utes Nick Soedel, Winter Heaven, Bjorn Gunnarsson and Major Robinson captured sixth place. With the help of Soedel's third-fastest Utah time in the lead-off 200 yards (1:37.50), the foursome earned the school record.
Both Utah records earned NCAA qualifying times.
In the 200 medley relay, Austin Fiascone, Ken Tiltges, Karson Applin and Nick Soedel touched in a time of 1:27.81. The men shaved almost 2 seconds off their seed time to land them in fifth and break the second Utah school record of the night.
“It is always exciting to break a school record, especially at Utah where we have such a storied history and amazing alumni,” said Utah head coach Greg Winslow. “The men know what it means to be a Utah Man and ultimately the fastest Ute in history is the goal as we strive to reach our goals and make our alumni, fans, and administration proud of the swimming Utes.”
After two events, Stanford is in first (74), with Cal right behind is second (72). USC stands in third with 64 points, while Arizona sits in fourth (60). Utah and UC Santa Barbara both earned 54 points, placing them both fifth. Arizona State is seventh (50) and Cal Poly is eighth (44).
