Caleb Herrick takes second in 1-meter dives.
SALT LAKE CITY – After a two-day dual meet against No. 4 USC at Ute Natatorium, the Utah men’s swimming and diving team fell short of the Trojans, 183-102.
"I think we’re right where we want to be,” said Utah head coach Greg Winslow. “We saw a lot of really good things out of our guys. We’re definitely ready for a week of rest and are going to get to fine tune some things. It’s a unique opportunity to race a team like USC right before the championships.”
Less than three-tenths of a second shy of first place, Bence Kira’ly touched in 1:50.58 in the 200 IM for second.
Kristian Kron also grabbed a second-place finish for the Utes, touching in just .37 seconds out of first in the 200 free (1:39.38).
The Utes will continue action next week with Pac-12 Championships at Weyerhaeuser King Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. The women’s championships will run Feb 27-March 2, with the men’s following March 3-6.
