SALT LAKE CITY - Coming off a big win against Denver last night, the University of Utah Women's Swimming and Diving team carried that momentum into this afternoon as it earned its second consecutive victory, topping the Oregon State Beavers 157-104 on Saturday at Ute Natatorium.
"This is exactly where we want to be," Utah head coach Greg Winslow said. "We're getting better as the season goes on. To get a Pac-12 [Conference] win is obviously good for our program. I'm excited for the next month as we get ready for the Pac-12 Championships. Hopefully, we can continue in the right direction."
Samantha Zuch topped all of her individual events for the second time in less than 24 hours, pulling in wins in the 1000 free (10:21.68), the 100 breast (1:05.56) and the 500 free (4:59.32).
Traycie Swartz also placed first in all of her events, winning the 100 back (57.05) and the 200 back (2:04.75).
Petra Soininen finished first in the 100 fly (56.83), while also grabbing second in the 200 fly (2:06.35).
Nicole Ligeza contributed to the Utes' success with a win in the 200 IM (2:06.23) and two second-place finishes in the 200 breast (2:21.58) and 100 breast (1:05.66).
Utah relays were on point with victories in both events. A collaboration of Swartz, Ligeza, Soininen and Jamora took the win in the 200 medley relay, while Swartz, Zuch, Caldwell and Soininen topped the 400 free relay (3:31.13).
Other notable performances include LeighAnne Oliver's second-place finish in the 1000 free (10:41.49) and Buck's third-place finish in the 200 IM (2:10.96).
