SALT LAKE CITY - Utah skier Eva Huckova has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Huckova, who is majoring in business and has a 3.97 GPA, is a second-team selection. The sophomore from Banska Bystricka, Slovakia, earned All-America honors in both the slalom and giant slalom at the NCAA Championships. Huckova was third in the GS at NCAA's, placing 10th in the slalom. Utah's leading NCAA qualifier started the year with a win at the Alaska Invitational in the giant slalom and never finished outside of the top six during the regular season.
Individuals are selected through voting by CoSIDA, a 2,000-member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
To be eligible, student-athletes must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his or her current institution and be nominated by his or her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
The Utah ski team finished its season with a sixth-place finish.
