SALT LAKE CITY - Eight members of the Ute ski team were named to the University of Utah's Dean's List, while a total of 14 student-athletes were selected to the Utah Athletics Academic Honor Roll. The women's ski team posted a 3.538 GPA during the Fall 2012 semester, which was the second-highest mark within the entire athletic department.
"I am extremely proud of how motivated the student-athletes in regard to their academics, and this semester is no exception," Utah Director of Skiing Kevin Sweeney said. "I am also encouraged with how well the new team members have adjusted to the rigors of studying, training and being on the road. I also must complement our Academic Advising staff here at the U. of U., who has done an excellent job. We have a really nice balance going on right now with very strong academics and excellent early-season results. It is very enjoyable being around this great group that is thriving in this setting."
To earn a spot on the Dean's List, a student must have at least a 3.50 GPA in at least 12 graded credits during the Fall 2012 semester. Inclusion on the Utah Athletics Academic Honor Roll is bestowed upon those with at least a 3.00 GPA.
