PARK CITY, Utah -- As day three of the University of Utah and University of Alaska-Anchorage Invitational concludes, the Utes finish in first place overall. Today's competition was in the cross-country, classical event.
In men's 15 KM action, twin brothers Frode and Rune Kollerud finish in the top five with Frode Kollerud in second place with 45:22 and Rune Kollerud in fourth place with 46:01. Freshman Pat Casey finished in tenth place with 47:48 for his first classical collegiate competition at the U.
Junior Hakon Skjonberg finished in 16th place with teammate Jesse Lassley placing 38th. In women's 10 KM competition, Junior Martine Munthe-Kaas finished in sixth place with 38:25 while teammate Hailey Wappett finished 19th with a time of 40:55. The Utes ended with a combined score of 217 points in the alpine events finishing first.
In the cross-country events the Utes accumulated a combined score of 209, placing fourth. With both event scores combined the Utes finished with 406 points, finishing in first place overall. Nine points behind in second, Colorado University finished with 393 points, with the University of New Mexico finishing in third place with 369 points.
