Utah received a Program of Excellence Award at a recent convention.

SALT LAKE CITY -
The University of Utah athletics department has been named one of three 2004-05 Program of Excellence recipients for its CHAMPS Program. Utah athletics director Dr. Chris Hill and assistant athletics director Mary Bowman were presented with the prestigious award at the annual Division IA Athletic Directors' Association convention, which was held in Dallas, Sept. 27-28.
Bowman, Utah's director of student-athlete support services, initiated the CHAMPS program at the U. back in 1996. She is assisted by Manny Hendrix, JoAnn Hulbert-Eagan and Jamie Andrus.
The 2004-05 Program of Excellence recipients--Utah, Auburn and Purdue--were selected by the CHAMPS National Advisory Board, which is comprised of CHAMPS program administrators from the Division IA institutions.
