SALT LAKE CITY - Academic all-conference honors were conferred on 83 University of Utah student-athletes today by the Mountain West Conference office. In addition, 70 Utah athletes were named MWC Scholar Athletes.
To be eligible for selection to the Academic all-conference squad, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
Those selected as MWC Scholar Athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition for their athletic team.
Utah's track and field team saw a school-best 19 named to the academic all-conference team. That number is followed by men's swimming and diving (15), women's swimming and diving (13) and baseball (8). Utah saw 10 athletes turn in cumulative grade-point averages over 3.8.
