SALT LAKE CITY - Casey Fox has been named the director of marketing and David Lingo the concessions manager for the University of Utah athletics department.
Fox comes to the U. from the U.S. Naval Academy, where he has been the assistant director of marketing for the past three years. Fox worked closely with athletics marketing director "Boo" Corrigan to plan and implement promotions efforts for the academy's football, lacrosse, soccer, basketball, and Olympic sports programs. During Fox's three-year tenure at Navy, the academy recorded significant increases in attendance for nearly all sports, including an average attendance of 91 percent for football during the 2003 season.
Prior to his work at the Naval Academy, Fox worked in marketing and promotions for the athletics department at Eastern Washington University and for the Portland Rockies. He received his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Oregon in 1997, and earned his master's degree in physical education at Eastern Washington in 2000. Casey and his wife, Heidi, are natives of Washington.
Lingo worked for Host Marriott Corporation and the Larry H. Miller Group from 1991-97, serving as the concessions director for the Delta Center and Franklin Quest Field. He was the concessions director at the E Center for nearly a year before starting his own company, Classic Foods. Lingo will continue to run his own business, which has concessions contracts at Riverbend Golf Course and Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center.
Before entering the quick service food industry in 1991, Lingo had eight years of experience in full-service restaurant operations, starting with Marriott Corporations' in-flight division. Lingo is a California native and has lived in Salt Lake City for 25 years. David and his wife, Wanda, have a daughter, Rebecca, who is graduating from Juan Diego High School this spring.
